Judgement Day Review

Alright, that last post was clearly a lie, but don't act surprised. Anyway, I will return now to give you a review of the WWE Pay-Per-View Judgement Day that I ordered last Sunday. I wasn;t sure if I was getting it til the day of it cuz the cable bills have been racking up from me ordering wrestling pay-per-views. Well I did and here is the review of Smackdown presents WWE Judgement Day 2005:

First Match was for the tag titles with MNM vs. Haas and Holly. Good exciting opener to get the crowd into the night. The crowd loves Holy for some reason and by the end of the night they were behind Haas as well as he clearly gave a good performance. Good tag match with MNM retaining as they still need to be built up. Heres hoping for some good action in a rematch between these two teams.

Next was Carlito vs. The Big Show. Wasn't much of a match at all, pretty boring and not as funny as it should have. Didn't last long either as Matt Morgan interfered to help Carlitio win with a not-to-impressive F5. Well, didn't accomplish much except give Carlito a big win and make Morgan look impressive. Still, Carlito should have gotten a match with someone he could look good against.

Then we had Chavo Guerrero jr. vs. Paul London for the cruiserweight title. Good scientific matchup here with some smart playing. A failed 450 had Londons ribs hurting throughout the rest of the match. Not too much high flying but still the technical parts of this match made it good. A good ending with the second 450 from London to give him the win.

Up next was Kurt Angle vs. Booker T. It was a good match but no where near where my expectations. Seemed kinda sloppy and not planned enough. A bad ending with a weird rollup by Booker ended this decent match and this stupid storyline. Angle attacked afterwards and almost got Sharmell til Booker saved the day and handcuffed Angle to the ropes and let Sharmell beat his ass. Well anyways.

Then, for the US Title Orlando Jordan vs. Heidenreich. Heidenreich is loved by the fans already and I'm amazed. I like the big goof but didnt think anyone would fall for his new gimmick and start cheering him. I was hoping for a decent match as I think Heidenreich is far better in the ring than most give him credit for and OJ has some untapped potential. What we got tho was a couple of minutes with some decent action and then it ended as soon as it began with a DDT from OJ. Another bad ending to what should have been a slightly better and longer match. Build the US Title up some for fucks sake, WWE.

Next up was my most anticipated match between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero and it delivered. The buildup to this match was great and this match was just that, great. Not too high flying and more of a technical match with some great emotional brawling. Every move was thought out and delivered greatly. They had the crowd in their hands and then it ended with some slight Chavo jr interference and Eddie using the chair on Rey to get DQed. I would have had Eddie win by cheating or intereference as that could have continued this feud just as much as this DQ finish did. The post match beatdown will keep this going but congrats and thanks to Eddie and Rey for this great match.

Then a fantastic video package got us ready for the main event "I Quit" match for WWE Championship between John Cena and JBL. The video got me pumped and the match did deliver. Basically, it was good ole fashion big dumb brawl but I loved it. It was fun, it was bloody, and it was well, some more fun. Cena bled buckets, JBL bled maybe one bucket. Some cool spots but nothing we havent seen before. Still, great, fun, bloody main event here and both guys did their jobs. Ending was a bit weird with JBL just quitting out of nowhere when Cena was about to smash him thru a window. Whatever, JBL quit, Cena still smashed JBL thru the window to the crowds delight and finally Cena showed me why he is WWE Champion.

Good event overall. Some good matches, a couple that weren't but short. A few bad endings. Well, it was still a solid Pay-Per0View from the Smackdown brand which is a first and was well wroth the money in my opinion. Just slightly below the greatness Backlash was last month. Congrats Smackdown, I will give you a

B+, a little generous, but who cares, they exceded my expectations and I had a good time so there.

Currently listening to Crossfades self-titled album, which is fucking great
